Diana Goulston Robinson: Eye – Catcher
Size: 40″ x 40″
Date: 2019
Materials: linen hand dyed by the artist with soy milk, cottons, satin and synthetic fabrics, embroidery threads, textile paint
Techniques: hand applique, paper foundation piecing, hand and machine embroidery, painting and hand quilting.
Artist Statement: Structures of steel and glass define the New York City landscape with shimmering light and shadow. Rippled patterns in a building’s window pane capture my attention and inform my work. These optically distorted reflective images seem to me to wink down at the street and amuse.
