The Manhattan Quilters Guild, founded in 1980, is a diverse group of New York City-area quiltmakers dedicated to promoting the art of quiltmaking and furthering professionalism in the field. Manhattan QG members meet monthly to provide mutual encouragement and to support each other’s efforts to express themselves in fiber, via work critiques, discussions of pertinent topics, and sharing of skills, techniques and related information. As a group, Manhattan Quilters Guild fosters public awareness of quiltmaking through exhibitions of members’ new works. Individually, members accept commissions, teach workshops and lecture, publish books and articles, and participate in quilt exhibitions, gallery shows and community service projects.
