My work is a personal narrative, weaving imprinted images retrieved from childhood, nature and present events. I also reference journal pages and photos in order to create art that explores themes of memory, loss, fragility and strength. My art becomes a visual map of my life’s journey.
As a young child I learned from the line of women in my family to value the handwork in sewing, embroidery, knitting and quilting. My current work continues to honor this common thread in my use of fiber and thread as well as non-traditional materials and mark making.
A passion for creative expression fuels an intimate dialogue with my work. It speaks to me without saying a word, as a shorthand for expressing emotions of life.
