Artist Statement: This piece is composed of four earlier works. The foundation is the first quilt I’ve ever created. Each subsequent part is a layer of life and time. This work is unified by one idea. Each thread is like Silver Rain, washing away and eroding thoughts, feelings, and memories into shards. Time to stop and look back at existence and for a moment be in the deep silence present. Like rain, time is fast and ephemeral. Shards of dreams, hopes, wishes that didn’t come true, and even fears –‐ all get erased. Memory leaves some, while others keep it and pass it onto the future. That sacred spark of light and love that permeates everything in life will always live on.
