Windows on the Square 2
The structure of this quilt derives from the literal sense of a numbered squared. The size and quantity of the design squares change geometrically across its surface, along with the chromatic progression of the elements. Few fabrics consume as much time and effort as silk — the silkworms eating mulberry leaves, the ladies unwinding cocoons by hand, the complex weaving of silk brocade. These developmental progressions, with the further dimension of time, contributed to my inspiration for this quilt.
